Sane in City split?

Could the long-term injury to Callum Hudson-Odoi have dire repercussions for Manchester City?

Yes, according to The Sun, which claims that Bayern Munich had hoped to lure the teenage Chelsea star from Stamford Bridge this summer but have now changed their mind.

The 18-year-old England ace is out until next season after rupturing his Achilles in the 2-2 draw with Burnley on Monday, leading the German giants to call off their pursuit.

And Bayern are said to have turned their attention instead to Leroy Sane.

Although the Etihad board have been in talks with the 23-year-old German international and his representatives about extending his stay beyond 2021, nothing has been agreed - and City “are concerned his head may have been turned by Bayern”, the newspaper says.

The German outfit have reportedly told Sane that they see him as the man to replace Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery, both of whom are leaving the club next month.

Mahrez staying put

One player who won’t be leaving the Etihad this summer is Riyad Mahrez, says talkSPORT.

There has been speculation in recent months that the the Algerian winger is growing “frustrated” with his lack of opportunities under Pep Guardiola since joining City from Leicester last summer in a £60m deal.

As part of City’s squad rotation, Mahrez has started only 13 Premier League games. But when asked about the winger’s future during a press conference, Guardiola assured reporters that the Algerian was going nowhere.

“Riyad Mahrez will be with us next season and the next one, and the next one,” said the Spanish boss. “I don’t need to speak with him. He knows we are happy with him.”

Pogba denial

Ahead of the Manchester derby, Guardiola was asked at his pre-match press conference if there was any truth to rumours that Manchester United had offered them Paul Pogba.

“No. No, no, definitely not,” he replied. “He’s a player for Man Utd.”

According to the Daily Mirror, the Frenchman is “on his way out of Old Trafford”, but it looks like he’ll be moving further afield than the Etihad. Real Madrid have been heavily linked with a move for Pogba.

The future of Felix

Could Cristiano Ronaldo dash City’s hopes of landing Joao Felix? The Daily Express says that the Juventus goal machine is trying to “lure” his compatriot to Italy to play alongside him.

Manchester City and Manchester United have both been linked with the 19-year-old in recent weeks, but the newspaper reckons that Juventus have made the Benfica star their priority signing this summer.

If that’s the case, the Italian champions will have to meet the Portuguese club’s £105m (€120m) release clause.
