Indeonesia: Increasing Radio Drama Production Capability through International Radio Drama Festival ABU Sonic
Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) is hosting the International Radio Drama Festival of Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union ABU Sonic, on 27-29 November 2017 in Yogyakarta. The radio drama festival was officially opened by the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors of RRI, Mistam, on Monday, November 27, 2017. ABU Sonic's radio drama festival itself is a series of events that are held with the aim to improve the production capability of radio drama for all radio members of ABU. This was stated by ABU Program Director, Tatsuhiro Beniko, in his speech at the opening of ABU Sonic Radio Drama Festival in Yogyakarta on Monday.
“One of our aims of this festival is to share the expertise and the experience of creating, engaging radio drama, as well as finding out engaging stories, exciting radio dramas. A festival consists of two parts, contest part and master class, and workshop part. I’m confident that you’ll be able to get a lot of inputs from the three-day festival and I myself am very looking forward to receiving the drama as well as attending the master class and the workshop,” Beniko said.
Tatsuhiro Beniko in his speech also expressed his gratitude to RRI as the host of ABU Sonic radio drama festival in Yogyakarta. According to him, RRI as the host has prepared this series of events very well. ABU Sonic International Radio Drama Festival is divided into 5 categories: long drama, mini drama, radio-based multimedia drama, youth radio drama award and drama documentary (docudrama). The festival is participated in by participants from Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Romania. (Rezha edit AHM)
