Snow settled on the circuit during day three of F1 winter testing at the Circuit de Catalunya
The Winter Olympics ended a few days ago in PyeongChang, South Korea, but if you’re in the UK or Europe it may be worth getting your skis and snowboards out from the cupboard.
The so-called “Beast from the East” has landed, with blizzards hitting the majority of the UK. Many railway stations and airports are cancelling services because of the snow storms, but it’s not just transport that’s being affected by the cold weather.
Many sports, including Formula 1’s pre-season testing in Spain, are having to cope with the white stuff. There is also an ironic tale from Ireland today because an event to celebrate the Winter Olympics team returning home has been cancelled… because of snow.
We take a look at some sporting snow scenes from around the UK and Europe.

F1 testing schedule remains
The third day of F1 pre-season testing was delayed today at the Circuit de Catalunya in Spain because of snow.
The BBC reports that the circuit was cleared this morning, but the session was postponed because the medical helicopter was not able to fly in owing to the poor conditions.
Because of today’s delay and forecasted snow tomorrow, there had been suggestions that an extra day would be added to the testing schedule. But Sky Sports F1 understands that the schedule is set to “remain unchanged after the teams failed to agree on a proposal to hold an extra day”.
