In less than 12 hours Motherwell’s #Pete6 video had more than 1.6m views on Twitter
When Manchester United confirmed the signing of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal they did so by releasing video footage of the Chilean striker taking selfies at Old Trafford and, randomly, playing the piano.
Sanchez’s skills with a football are unquestioned, but his ability when tinkling the ivories has not gone unnoticed by football clubs, players and fans across the globe. The #Sanchez7 announcement was shared thousands of times on social media as United fans celebrated the arrival of their new superstar.
Last night Scottish club Motherwell also made a big transfer announcement with the signing of Peter Hartley from Blackpool.
Hartley has penned a contract until 2020 and to mark the news Motherwell released their own video announcement - complete with piano “playing”, a rainy welcome at Fir Park and, of course, the first name on the shirt and obligatory hashtag.
The “introducing #Pete6” video has had more than 1.6m views on Twitter since it was published last night.
Here’s how the two videos - #Alexis7 and #Pete6 - compare.
