Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are making their first joint royal visit since announcing their engagement on Monday.
The couple travel to Nottingham today to take part in a World Aids Day charity fair - “a subject close to Harry’s heart thanks to the work his late mum Princess Diana did with HIV-positive patients”, says the Daily Mirror.
Following the event, hosted by the Terrence Higgins Trust, the pair will also visit the National Justice Museum and the Nottingham Contemporary art centre, as well as the Nottingham Academy school, where they will meet students and teachers, and watch a “hip hopera”.
“Prince Harry has spent time in Nottingham both publicly and privately since he first met young people there in 2013, when he was exploring issues around youth violence,” the BBC says. “A year later, he established the Full Effect programme, which aims to stop youth violence in the city.”
Jason Knauf, the Prince’s communication secretary, told the BBC that Harry was looking forward to introducing his bride-to-be to a community that had “become very special to him”.
