Congratulations, Sophie! The former soldier turned trainee stuntwoman ducked, dived and dodged her way through a tricky Bake Off finale to be crowned queen of cake in last night's grand final.
Things got off to a bit of a rocky start before the show had even begun, thanks to an unfortunately timed tweet from Prue Leith revealing the winner hours before the episode aired.

The judge, who is currently overseas, said she miscalculated the time difference and that she was “mortified” to have tweeted the spoiler, which she swiftly deleted:
I am so sorry to the fans of the show for my mistake this morning, I am in a different time zone and mortified by my error #GBBO.

However, once the episode actually got rolling, fans quickly put the drama aside. The last signature challenge of the series was a medley of naan breads - but some viewers were quick to point out that GBBO has already reached bread perfection:
No matter what these guys do, nothing I REPEAT, NOTHING will match bread lion %uD83D%uDE4C%uD83C%uDFFC %uD83E%uDD81%uD83D%uDE4C%uD83C%uDFFC #GBBOFinal #GBBO http://pic.twitter.com/etTcKlZ5yz

Similarly, some felt that the showstopper challenge - an entremet layer cake - was also a bit underwhelming for a grand finale:
As a final showstopper I find this challenge a bit dull. I mean I get that it%u2019s ridiculously hard but it%u2019s not very showy or stoppy #GBBO

I like Steven but that showstopper looks something out of Alien #GBBOFinal

Ultimately, it was cool-as-a-cucumber Sophie who took home the trophy - and, for some GBBO fans, her reaction was just a little too cool:
It just seemed a big anti climatic and flat this year. You'd think Sophie just won a tenner on the postcode lottery #GBBOFinal

Not that her victory came as much of a surprise to those who had seen Prue’s inadvertent spoiler hours earlier:
I wonder who's gonna win?? #GBBO #GBBOFinal http://pic.twitter.com/PNJUsHussM

Never been one to bottle up his feelings, as a tearful Sandi Toksvig announced Sophie’s name, poor Steven couldn’t hide his heartache:

But of course, the traditional end-of-series summer party was all about one person. No, not Sophie. Obviously, we’re talking about Liam:
Yo I%u2019m really happy for you but I just wanna say that Liam is the best baker of all time #gbbofinal http://pic.twitter.com/uXvESUBfZJ

My fave thing about the #GBBOFinal hashtag is that 10% of people are talking about tonight's show and the other 90% just miss Liam

A closing credits montage revealing what the contestants have been up to since the end of filming was the icing on the cake:
